Building things that float (and some that don't)

There isn’t a lot of polish in these parts, this is a pretty straight forward uninteresting-to-anybody-but-the-author build blog. I write and post things here mostly to remember some of the different steps taken and customizations added to the various projects I complete (or, in some cases, don’t complete).
